Cllr. Terry Cutmore
MEMBERS of both Essex County Council and Rochford District Council attended an unveiling of a plaque in the Ashingdon and East Hawkwell Memorial Hall on Friday 25th September. The plaque was erected in memory of the late County and District Councillor Terry Cutmore who sadly passed away on 1st April from the Coronavirus.
Cllr. Cutmore was vice-chairman of Rochford District Council and ward councillor for Hockley and Ashingdon. Terry had been involved in local council work since 1994 he was elected chairman of Ashingdon Parish Council in 1998 and in 1999 was elected onto RDC. He served APC until 2006. He was elected to ECC in 2013 and also served as chairman of RDC until 2019 when he became vice Chairman.
Before the unveiling Cllrs. Mike Steptoe and Carole Weston spoke warmly about Cllr. Cutmore and the unceasing service he had given to the District over many years, being the longest serving District Councillor in the Rochford area.
The Trustees of the hall felt it only fitting to place a memorial plaque in the hall as he had been a supporter and friend of the hall for some years. The plaque was unveiled by Cllr. Carole Weston in the presence of Cllr. Mike Steptoe, Mrs Sue Cutmore and her Son and Cllr. Dan McCarthy – Chairman of the Trustees looking on.
